Every deactivated mine means another life saved
Every second hour a mine explodes somewhere in the world – and every year almost 4'000 people are maimed or killed in such explosions.
And yet statistics like these cannot possibly convey the true scope of the problem, since the suffering inflicted upon civilians, including paralysed agriculture, inaccessibility of streets and wells, and poverty exacerbated by hunger and rural exodus, only truly begins once the conflict as such has ended.
- We support demining projects, comprising the detection of mines and ERW, mapping, marking and clearance of contaminated territories.
- We provide risk education programmes for the affected population, thus helping people to better cope with their dangerous situation.
- We inform and sensitise people in Switzerland, raising the public's awareness and understanding about the disastrous impacts of mines and unexploded ordnances.
